Calvary College

Take your life’s purpose to a whole new level with a degree in biblical studies from Calvary College. Our two-year associate degree program trains students to study the Bible academically, think about it critically, and serve God practically. Evening-only classes allow students to continue to work and remain committed to church and family while pursuing a degree.

Exposition

Calvary College students will study the text of the Bible, learning the art and science of biblical exposition while reading and reflecting on the Bible as God’s specific revelation to humanity, the truth of God made manifest in written form.

Examination

Students will be instructed to examine and interpret the Bible according to its historical-grammatical context, as well as learn biblical doctrines pertaining to life and godliness.

Calvary College Teachers

Explanation

Through the practical application of preaching and communication, students will learn biblical study preparation, preaching, and teaching techniques.

Class Schedule

Classes are offered Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6:30 to 9 pm. Evening-only classes allow students to work and live life while pursuing a degree.

Degree Program

Attend full-time for two years or part-time over several years to attain an associate of arts degree (AA) in biblical studies.

If you’ve always wanted to learn more about God and His Word in an academic environment, Calvary College is for you. Our curriculum gives students in-depth knowledge of the text of the Bible in evening-only classes with a full- or part-time scheduling option.

Accreditation

Calvary College is recognized by the State of New Mexico to grant religious education degrees. Although Calvary College is currently unaccredited, the accreditation process will begin in the 2020-2021 academic year through the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools. Financial aid including student loans and military benefits (the GI Bill) will be available when accreditation is granted by the US Department of Education.

The Curriculum

Biblical Discipleship/Counseling

Learn the purposeful application of God’s Word to life’s situations and learn how to help others understand and apply the life principles in God's Word.

Old Testament

This course is a survey of each Old Testament book within its historical timeline. It examines the chronological structure, types of writing, and the original intent of God’s promised salvation in light of the New Testament fulfillment.

New Testament

This course is a survey of each New Testament book within its historical context. It examines the original intent of the author and the continuous timeless application of God’s Word.

Church History

This course is a survey of how Jesus Christ has been using people and movements to build His Kingdom from the first to the twenty-first century.

How to Study & Teach the Bible

Learn the science and artful practice of biblical interpretation, and get an overview of interpretive systems.

Worldview Apologetics & Evangelism

Worldview apologetics is designed to train the Christian in methods and information that defend the Christian faith in a postmodern relativistic culture.

Systematic Theology

Systematic theology is a survey of theological systems: doctrines pertaining to who God is and how He has revealed Himself, man, sin, and the angelic realm, as well as doctrines pertaining to what God is doing, the church, the nature of salvation, and last things.

Costs

The cost to attend Calvary College is $200 per class. Books and supplies are additional. Three classes are offered each quarter and students may register for a maximum of three classes at a time. The academic year consists of three quarters: fall, winter, and spring.

Instruction takes place on the campus of Calvary Church Albuquerque, where students can foster community in the classroom, under a cottonwood tree, or over a cup of coffee at SoPo Roasting & Brewing Co.
